What Endures, and What’s Next: The Solventas Foundation
For nearly two decades, philanthropy has been a core part of how I think about business, healthcare, and responsibility.
Not as a separate initiative.
Not as something we do on the side.
But as an extension of what it means to build something that matters.
Over the years, that commitment has taken different forms—beginning with the Integral Life Foundation, evolving into One5, and today, moving forward under a unified identity: Solventas Foundation.
This relaunch isn’t about starting over.
It’s about building on what has always been true—and sharpening how we show up moving forward.
The mission has remained consistent since the beginning:
expand access to healthcare, education, and opportunity in communities where those systems don’t exist or aren’t working.
In many of the places we’ve worked—both in the U.S. and globally—there are organizations doing critical work to provide food, water, shelter, and education.
But one gap continues to persist: access to reliable, consistent medical care. That’s where we’ve chosen to focus. Not because it’s easy—but because it’s necessary. Solventas represents a more intentional approach to that work. One that prioritizes:
Partnership over presence
Long-term commitment over short-term intervention
Accountability and measurable outcomes over activity alone
This isn’t a new idea—it’s the continuation of work that has been underway for years. It’s meant showing up in moments of crisis, like deploying medical teams in the immediate aftermath of the 2010 Haiti earthquake. And it’s meant staying long after those moments pass—supporting infrastructure, local leadership, and systems that can sustain care over time. In Malawi, through our partnership with Pothawira, that’s taken shape as a growing medical campus—starting with an outpatient clinic, expanding to a birthing center, and now approaching the opening of a surgical facility that will serve tens of thousands of patients annually. In the U.S., it’s looked different—but the philosophy is the same. Supporting organizations that are deeply embedded in their communities and helping ensure they have the resources to grow and sustain their impact.
As part of this next chapter, we’re also formalizing and expanding what we’ve built within the NueHealth ecosystem: the NueHealth Surgical Alliance. This is where our clinical capabilities meet our philanthropic mission. It creates a pathway for:
Physicians and clinicians to engage directly in global and domestic outreach
Facilities to contribute supplies, equipment, and operational support
A broader network of people to participate in delivering care where it’s needed most
It’s a natural extension of the NueHealth model—applying the same principles of efficiency, accountability, and outcomes to environments that traditionally operate without them.
The relaunch of Solventas is less about a moment—and more about momentum. There are a few areas we’re focused on moving forward:
Expanding clinical engagement through the Surgical Alliance
Strengthening supply chain and equipment donation infrastructure
Supporting the continued development of projects like the surgical center in Malawi
Growing partnerships that align with our belief in long-term, measurable impact
And importantly, creating more ways for people—across our companies and networks—to be part of the work.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that meaningful impact doesn’t happen in isolation. It happens through people—through shared belief, aligned incentives, and a willingness to engage directly. Solventas is simply a platform to do more of that, more effectively. If you’ve been part of this work over the years, thank you. If you’re just becoming aware of it, I’d encourage you to take a closer look.
There’s more ahead—and more opportunity to be part of it.
